Screen International reports from the Cannes Film Festival in the second of our new Media Business Podcasts, brought to listeners monthly by Media Business Insight, the publisher of Screen International and Broadcast.

In this special edition recorded on the ground at the Cannes Film Festival, which runs until May 25, Screen International editor Matt Muelleris joined by critics Wendy Ide and Jonathan Romney for a rundown of their highlights thus far at this year’s festival.

In the second part of the episode, he speaks to key industry players about their own first-hand experiences of bringing films and talent to the world’s most iconic red carpet.

Sharing their recollections of Cannes red carpets past and present are producer Rebecca O’Brien, who makes her 12th visit to Cannes alongside Ken Loach with his Competition contender Sorry We Missed You; Gabrielle Stewart, managing director of international sales company HanWay Films; publicity doyenne Liz Miller of Premier PR; and Lawrence Atkinson, CEO of public relations and communications group DDA.

Broadcast continues its 60th anniversary celebrations with a Media Business Podcast of its Broadcast Indie Survey Reveal event.

Indie Survey editor Jesse Whittock introduces the top-line findings of this year’s survey, before Broadcast editor Chris Curtis presides over the ‘State of the Nation’ panel.

He is joined by Naked Entertainment chief operating officer Susie Dark; Curve Media joint chief executive Camilla Lewis; Endemol Shine UK chief executive Richard Johnson and All3Media chief operating officer Sara Geater to discuss the health of the indie sector, and identify the opportunities and challenges facing production companies.
